ALPINE SMOCK - BLOCK I

I was drawn to the simple, generous smocks worn by military forces across Europe through the first half of the twentieth century — from Swedish military smocks to the alpine gear of the Italian army. The Alpine Smock takes those references as a starting point, with an oversized shape designed to pull easily over other layers, a hood, front zip and large military-inspired side pockets. It has the straightforward practicality of outerwear you can throw over almost anything. I wanted the proportions to make it easy to pull over other clothes, while the construction keeps a clear utility feeling. The Japanese-woven waxed cotton has a dry handle and natural structure that suits the shape particularly well.

Chest: Measure straight across from underarm to underarm.
Hem: Measure straight across the hem.
Sleeve: Measure from the shoulder seam to the end of the sleeve.
Back length: Measure straight down the centre back from the neckline to the hem.
