Resilience in Cloth

Founded in Bangkok in 2015 by Lauren Yates, every WMENSWEAR collection begins with the life of a woman whose story quietly reshaped the world around her.

Throughout time, women have been the custodians of cloth, carrying textile knowledge, traditions and belief systems across generations. Through their stories, we begin to understand the garments they wore, the communities they belonged to, and the knowledge they continue to carry.

For more than a decade, we have returned to the people behind the cloth—from families who continue to grow heirloom cotton from seeds passed down through generations to natural dyers, weavers, knitters and specialist makers across Thailand. These enduring relationships shape every collection we create.

Working alongside artisans, our collections, publications and films explore the ways people inherit, carry and reshape knowledge as they make sense of the world. Time and again, we find that cultures separated by geography have arrived at remarkably similar truths.

For us, “Resilience in Cloth” is found in the women whose stories inspire our work, the makers who continue these traditions, and the knowledge carried from one generation to the next.
